đź’° Is Your Gas Bill About to Increase? Read This

gas rate increase

Colorado Springs Utilities is proposing a gas rate increase to account for higher-than-expected usage during this winter’s extreme cold. To replenish supply for the coming months, CSU says it must buy more natural gas, which could lead to an average increase of about $7 per month for customers if the proposal is approved. 🦒 Big Win for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Our very own, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been named the #2 Best Zoo in the US by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, with its Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit also ranking #2 in the Best Zoo Exhibit category.

Did you know, unlike many other zoos, CMZoo does not receive tax funding, making this recognition a true reflection of the strong community support that keeps it thriving. Every visit, membership, and donation helps maintain excellent animal care, fund improvements, and support conservation efforts. Thanks to our community, this beloved local treasure continues to shine!

🔎 Public Can Now Track DNA Case Progress

Track DNA Case Progress

In response to a major forensic misconduct case, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is rolling out a public dashboard to track backlogged DNA evidence and sexual assault kits. This new law, signed by the governor, aims to improve transparency and ensure accountability after a former CBI lab analyst mishandled over 1,000 cases, costing the state millions.

Officials plan to cut the backlog in half within a year and reduce turnaround times to under 90 days by 2027. The dashboard is now live, giving the public real-time updates on case processing. Full Story
