🏛️ Mayor Yemi’s Message: Safety, Roads & Support

In his March briefing, Mayor Yemi praised the tireless efforts of first responders and road crews who kept city streets safe during this winter’s unpredictable storms. He also acknowledged the swift action taken to contain last week’s fire near Garden of the Gods, crediting both emergency teams and the vigilant residents who reported it. With red flag warnings still in effect, he encouraged the community to stay prepared. The mayor also thanked voters for renewing 2C tax funding, which continues to support much-needed road improvements. Full Story

💊 First Non-Opioid Pain Med in 20+ Years

For the first time in over two decades, according to UCHealth, a new non-opioid painkiller, Journavx, has been approved, offering an alternative for those needing relief from acute pain without the risks of opioid addiction. Unlike traditional painkillers, it targets a specific sodium channel involved in pain signaling, making it a more precise option with fewer systemic effects.
While it’s not a replacement for all pain treatments, it could help reduce reliance on opioids, particularly after surgeries or injuries. However, it’s not yet approved for chronic pain and has some medication interactions to consider. With its release, experts are hopeful this signals a shift toward more innovative, safer pain management solutions.
⏳ Every Second Counts—Help Locate Kathryn!

Police are searching for 74-year-old Kathryn Roever, who was last seen yesterday, Thurs March 20, around 12:30pm, after leaving her home near S Union Blvd for a walk.
She is considered at-risk and was last seen wearing a blue jacket, a multi-colored blouse, and black sweatpants. Authorities urge the community to stay alert and report any sightings to CSPD at 719-444-7000.

🥾 Hike With a View: Pulpit Rock
Pulpit Rock at Austin Bluffs Open Space is a must-visit for hikers looking for breathtaking views without venturing far from the city. This 4-mile loop trail provides a moderately challenging to reach the summit at 6,621 feet. The best seasons to hike are spring through fall, as winter conditions can make the trail icy. Parking is free but limited, and there are no public amenities, so be prepared.
Along the way, keep an eye out for local wildlife like mule deer and foxes. Whether you're catching a sunrise or simply exploring, this hike is a rewarding escape into nature.
