🤦♀️ Why I Don’t Like April Fools’ Day 🍝

I’ve never been a fan of pranks, and it all goes back to one childhood April Fools’ attempt gone wrong. I swapped salt 🧂 for sugar 🍬 at the dinner table, thinking it would be harmless fun. My brothers, piling on “salt” over their pasta, weren’t amused when I was feeling guilty and panicked mid-meal and switched it back. I mean, I didn’t want to spike their blood sugar! Let’s just say they weren’t amused—so ever since, I’ve skipped the tricks.
Some jokes can be funny 😂, but pranks? Not for me! 🚫 So don’t expect false, “trick” stories here, it’s not my style.

🗳️ Deadline Alert: Ballots Due by 7pm
The 2025 Colorado Springs Municipal Election wraps up tonight, and all ballots must be submitted to an official drop box by 7pm—there is no in-person voting.
Election results will start rolling in at 7:15 PM, with updates throughout the night. Voters can track their ballot status and view turnout by district on the city’s website. If you haven’t received your ballot or have election-related questions, reach out to the City Clerk’s office before the deadline!

🌩️ Hailstorms Are Here—Time to Prepare

As spring settles in, Colorado’s infamous hail season is back. The first storm has already arrived, bringing small but plentiful hailstones. While some drivers scramble for cover, experts remind residents that hail is unpredictable and can cause major damage to cars, roofs, and homes. Insurance coverage, early repairs, and keeping an eye on weather forecasts can help minimize costs and frustration.
With hail season lasting through September—and peaking in June—now’s the time to prepare for whatever the skies bring. Full Story

👩 TRIVIA: The Woman Who Changed the Springs Forever
Did you know that one of Colorado Springs’ most influential women helped shape the city’s cultural and social foundations? Julie Penrose, a philanthropist and community leader, left an enduring legacy through her dedication to family initiatives and the arts.
What unique connection does Julie Penrose’s legacy have to the arts in Colorado Springs?
Julie’s contributions include co-founding the Colorado Springs Day Nursery in 1897, now known as Early Connections Learning Center. This initiative provided affordable childcare for working families, a groundbreaking effort at the time.
Julie's passion for supporting children and families extended to her role in establishing the El Pomar Foundation with her husband, Spencer. To date, this foundation has contributed over $700 million to causes benefiting health, education, and family services across Colorado.

🚨 Downtown Shooting Under Investigation

Downtown Colorado Springs saw a heavy police presence yesterday afternoon around Pikes Peak Ave, after an officer-involved shooting left one man dead. Police responded to reports of a suspect allegedly breaking into cars and threatening someone with a gun.
When officers arrived, the man reportedly exited a vehicle with a weapon, leading to an officer firing at least one shot. As of late last night, the scene remains under investigation, with several downtown streets closed, leaving some drivers unable to access their parked vehicles.
