🏛️ What Does El Paso County Really Do?

What Does El Paso County Really Do?

To celebrate National County Government Month this April, El Paso County is rolling out a digital campaign to highlight the services and people that help the community every day.

The month includes social media spotlights, a special podcast episode, and a central online hub with resources, downloads for kids, and the Citizen Connect tool, which lets residents report concerns or contact their commissioner directly. It’s an open invitation to get to know how your local government works and how you can be part of the process.

Hit the Mitt, Help a Hero

Colorado Rockies hit a “Hit the Mitt” home run

In a fun and impactful twist on fundraising, UCHealth will donate $5,000 to Freedom Service Dogs every time the Colorado Rockies hit a “Hit the Mitt” home run today. The nonprofit, based in Colorado, trains service dogs for people with disabilities and provides them at no cost. It takes up to 18 months and $50,000 to prepare one dog, so each donation goes a long way.

This campaign, now in its eighth season, gives fans a fun reason to cheer a little louder—because every home run could help someone gain a life-changing companion. Full Story

📋 Help Shape the Springs Disaster Plan

Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management

The Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan for El Paso County and is inviting residents to take a short survey to help shape it. The plan identifies natural disaster risks and outlines how to reduce their impacts on people, infrastructure, and communities.

Public input, alongside feedback from safety agencies and government groups, will guide future efforts to improve our region’s readiness and resilience. A virtual community meeting will be held on April 23 to kick off the update process. Full Story
