🗣️ Speak Up About Housing in the Springs

To better understand and address the region’s evolving housing needs, the City of Colorado Springs is leading a regional Housing Needs Assessment. This effort will collect data across El Paso County to identify gaps in housing supply, especially for seniors, workers, and low-income residents. It will result in tailored recommendations for the City and unincorporated areas, while also offering helpful insights to other municipalities.
Residents are encouraged to participate in a brief online survey to share their perspectives and help shape future housing strategies and investments.

🚐 Skip the Drive, Catch the Shuttle

Downtown Colorado Springs residents now have a convenient way to get to the Ford Amphitheater thanks to a new shuttle service from Illegal Pete’s on Tejon Street. The partnership with Rocky Mountain Event Shuttles offers round-trip rides to concerts, along with food and drink specials before departure.
Shuttles leave about 30 minutes before showtime and return 20 minutes after concerts end. Tickets for the shuttle are currently priced at $57.50, and patrons 21+ can also score a free drink at Illegal Pete’s with a same-day event ticket and entrée purchase. Full Story

💔 Farewell to a Another CMZoo Legend

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is remembering Mahali, a 22-year-old giraffe who passed after a long and meaningful life. Born at the zoo in 2003, Mahali was known for his strong personality and, later in life, for helping reshape how zoos care for senior giraffes.
Through years of dedicated work from his caretakers, Mahali contributed to innovations in mobility support and quality-of-life standards that will now be used around the world. His final day was spent outdoors, enjoying his favorite treats and time with his herd, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to influence giraffe care for years to come.

👻TRIVIA: The Secret Beneath Evergreen Cemetery

Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expy
Did you know Evergreen Cemetery is one of Colorado Springs’ oldest—and most haunted—landmarks? Formally established in 1871, before the city itself, Evergreen’s historic chapel and crypts have inspired chilling tales for decades.
What eerie phenomenon has repeatedly been reported in the chapel basement at Evergreen Cemetery?
Staff and visitors have reported unexplained cold blasts, shadowy figures, and other strange phenomenon. Paranormal investigators have recorded strange energy readings, and some guests describe an overwhelming sense of unease in the chapel basement, where caskets were once stored during harsh winters.
Answer: heavy crypt doors swinging open on their own—despite no wind or visible cause. Source
