๐ Hidden Heroes of El Paso County

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, observed April 13โ19, is a chance to thank the often-unseen heroes who keep El Paso County safe: the 911 dispatchers, call-takers, and communication techs who handle hundreds of thousands of calls each year.
From coordinating responses across multiple agencies to embracing new technology like text-to-911 and automated call-back systems, these professionals remain calm in crisis and help save lives daily. Their work may happen behind the scenes, but the impact is felt throughout our communityโand this week, we celebrate them. ๐ค
๐ The One Thing Lent Invites Us to Do
As Easter nears, Lent invites us to slow down and refocusโnot on tasks, but on presence. Pastor Jason Privett of Discovery Church Colorado shares the story of Mary and Martha, reminding us how easy it is to get caught up in doing rather than being.
Lent isnโt about ritualsโitโs about returning to hope, remembering that Jesus walks with us in every struggle, and letting that truth reshape our everyday lives. Wherever you are in your faith journey, this season offers a space for reflection, renewal, and reconnection.

๐๏ธ 128 Years of Parks and Wildlife

Yesterday, April 16, Colorado Parks and Wildlife turned 128 yrs old, marking a long legacy of preserving nature and expanding access to outdoor recreation. Since its beginnings in 1897, the agency has evolved through various departments and mergers, ultimately becoming the organization that now oversees wildlife, conservation, and our beloved state parks.
From the first fish hatchery to the opening of Coloradoโs first state park, CPWโs milestones reflect generations of work to protect and share the beauty of the outdoors with all of us. Full Story
