π Got Expired Meds? Drop Them Off Saturday

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day returns tomorrow, Sat April 26, giving Coloradans a chance to safely dispose of unneeded or expired prescription drugs from 10am to 2pm Local collection sites will accept solid forms like tablets, capsules, and patches, while liquids must be sealed in original containers. Syringes, sharps, and illegal substances wonβt be accepted.
In the last Take Back Day, Colorado turned in over 11,000 pounds of medications. If you canβt attend, the DEA also offers year-round drop-off site options online.

π« Cuts Are ComingβBut Not to Classrooms

District 11 is reshaping its upcoming budget by cutting back on central administration and redirecting more resources toward classrooms and teacher compensation. While itβs unclear how many administrative roles will be affected, officials stress that no school-level positions will be impacted.
The changes reflect the districtβs focus on strengthening student support and maintaining competitive pay for educators, with job postings for reorganized roles expected to appear soon. The final budget will be adopted by June 30. Full Story
π What 40+ Drivers Got Wrong Last Weekend

Last weekend, the El Paso County Sheriffβs Traffic Unit conducted a targeted enforcement effort across unincorporated roads, making over 40 stops and issuing 23 citations for speeding and other violations, including one DUI.
They also disrupted a potential street racing event before it began and cited two drivers for ignoring Coloradoβs βMove Overβ law, which protects anyone stopped on the roadside with flashing lights.
These surge efforts reflect ongoing work to keep growing traffic safer for everyone traveling in and around El Paso County.

π© Mini Apple Pies with Cinnamon Sugar

Recipe by Curly Girl Kitchen
Mini apple pies, with homemade all butter pie dough and spiced apple filling, baked until crisp and flaky, then coated in cinnamon sugar. These delicious apple hand pies are the perfect combination of sweet, juicy honey crisp apples inside flaky pastry crust, while the cinnamon sugar coating makes them taste like an apple donut or a fried apple pie.
