🔥 What You Need To Know About Today’s Fire Risk

Colorado Springs and nearby areas are under a Red Flag Warning until 8pm today due to strong winds and very low humidity, creating high wildfire risk. Residents in Pueblo, El Paso County, and the San Luis Valley are urged to avoid outdoor burning and spark-prone activities. 

Travelers should also be cautious, especially near mountain passes where strong gusts may affect visibility. Conditions could continue into tomorrow, so it’s important to stay alert and take simple precautions to protect yourself and our community. Full Story

🏟️ New Place for Families to Play and Gather

Major new addition to El Pomar Youth Sports Park with the opening of the Kent Olin Field Plaza (2212 Executive Cir.) The plaza features a new 10,000-square-foot practice field, a rebound wall, shaded seating, a playground, a food truck area, and upgraded facilities.

El Pomar Youth Sports Park already hosts thousands of young athletes annually and draws tourism to the city. This expansion, supported by tourism grants, ensures even more opportunities for youth sports and community gatherings in Southeast Colorado Springs. Full Story

🛰️ Local Efforts Strengthen National Defense

U.S. Space Force, founded in 2019, is making important strides in national defense by upgrading its satellite jamming capabilities to guard against potential threats from countries like China and Russia.

With the rollout of the new Meadowlands system—which expands the range and effectiveness of older equipment—Space Force is enhancing its ability to counter spy satellites and preparing for future space-based challenges. More upgrades and additional systems are planned to ensure continued strength and protection.

A new 5-minute balance workout, designed especially for women over 50, features 10 beginner-friendly exercises (#1 is challenging but good when you get it!) to support healthy aging.

🚨 Massive Raid in COS Hidden Club

This made national news! Early yesterday morning, federal and local agencies carried out a major raid at an illegal nightclub near Academy and Airport Road, uncovering drug use, possible prostitution, and other criminal activity.

Over 300 officers participated in the operation, which led to the detention of more than 100 individuals, including active-duty military personnel. The raid capped off a months-long investigation and is part of ongoing efforts to address safety concerns within the community.
