👁️ Seeking a Different Kind of Eye Care Experience?

👩⚕️ Dr. Sara Johnson’s Secret to Happy Patients? Compassion, Expertise… and a Tail-Wagging Surprise
The dry Colorado air can be brutal, especially on our eyes. If you’ve ever felt that gritty, burning sensation, you know exactly what Dr. Sara Johnson, O.D. understands firsthand. And that empathy informs every aspect of her practice at the Eye Care Center of Colorado Springs. Located in the historic Van Dyke building downtown, the clinic has been a cornerstone of the community for over 20 years, offering a unique blend of cutting-edge technology and genuine compassion.
Dr. Johnson’s journey to Colorado Springs was driven by a desire for a more nature-filled life and a fresh perspective. Leaving Illinois behind, she found both at Eye Care Center, joining the practice in 2010. Working alongside founder Dr. Reed Bro, she embraced his philosophy of patient-centered care, a value she continues to uphold today with Dr. Taylor Little. Together, they lead an all-female team, creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard and understood.
This focus on individualized care shines through in their approach to challenging cases. Patients who have been told "there's nothing more we can do" often find options at Eye Care Center. They specialize in conditions like keratoconus and post-refractive surgery complications, utilizing advanced technology and a deep understanding of each patient's unique needs. They’re also keenly aware of the specific eye care challenges presented by Colorado's climate, from dry eye to sun damage, and offer innovative treatments like heat and red light therapy to address these concerns.
Eye Care Center is also committed to making their services accessible, offering a range of insurance and payment options, including a same-day discount.
Ready to experience the difference? Visit Eye Care Center at eyecarecs.com, Facebook or call 719-576-5844 for questions or make an appointment. And you might just get a warm welcome from Toro, the clinic's four-legged Chief Morale Officer.

☔ Why This Rain Really Matters

While the recent stretch of cool, wet weather might feel dreary, it’s delivering a big win for the Pikes Peak region. May rainfall has already surpassed the monthly average, helping to replenish water supplies, extend snowmelt, and reduce wildfire risk.
Farmers are thrilled—calling these early-season downpours “million-dollar rains”—and the added moisture is also a plus for city dwellers, who may get to skip lawn watering for a while. With no new watering restrictions expected this summer, this rain is a welcome gift for the entire region. Full Story
🏡 Property Tax Transparency for Coloradans

Yesterday, the state has rolled out a new interactive Colorado Property Tax Map, designed to help residents better understand our property tax rates and which jurisdictions collect from our property. The map pulls together information from local governments and displays last year’s property values, tax boundaries, and mill levies in one place—offering transparency on a topic that’s often confusing.
It’s free to use, doesn’t require an account, and can be accessed from any device, making it a helpful new tool for homeowners and curious residents alike.
🎂 You’re Invited to a 100-Year Surprise!

As Cheyenne Mountain Zoo approaches its 100th year in 2026, it’s kicking off a major upgrade to its giraffe habitat, including a 12,000-square-foot giraffe barn, a much larger outdoor yard, and enhanced guest experiences with more feeding zones and face-to-face interaction areas.
Designed with the giraffes’ health and happiness at the forefront, the space will include innovative features like a clear ETFE roof to let in natural light year-round and new trails to encourage exploration. The Zoo is inviting the community to be part of this exciting project and help shape the future of giraffe care and connection.
