🏛️ Session’s Over—New Laws That Could Affect You Now

Colorado’s 2025 legislative session has ended, with lawmakers reflecting on key wins and lingering challenges.
Democrats focused on expanding housing affordability, boosting school funding for underserved students, and protecting personal freedoms.
Republicans emphasized fiscal responsibility, public safety, and concerns about government overreach.
While priorities differed, both parties acknowledged the need to continue working toward a more affordable and secure future for Colorado families. The next session begins January 14, 2026. Full Story

🛤️ 9+ Miles of New Trails Coming Soon

In Colorado Springs’ southwest corner (west of the Broadmoor Bluffs and Spires neighborhoods), a new Master and Management Plan for Fishers Canyon Open Space has been approved, promising 9–10 miles of trails for hikers, bikers, and equestrians, along with climbing zones and an ADA-accessible loop.
More than 2,600 residents shaped the plan through community input, and 66% of the land is set aside for wildlife preservation. The open space will also help link multiple parks via the envisioned 26-mile Chamberlain Trail. The project was funded through the TOPS sales tax and a federal grant, with land acquisitions completed in 2021 and 2022.
😳 Which Restaurant Misses the Mark Again

Planning to eat out? Here’s the latest Health Inspection reports for a few local restaurant.
Dragon King near Powers and Galley failed its fourth consecutive health inspection, with repeated food safety violations. Taco Express on Tutt Blvd also failed, though staff say the issues have been addressed and the team is ready for re-inspection.
On the brighter side, multiple restaurants—including Taco Bell on Academy Park Loop and Schlotzsky’s on Razorback—earned perfect scores. Schlotzsky’s staff credit their high standards and local involvement for the achievement.
Health inspection results across El Paso County are available online for those wanting to check their favorite spots. Full Story
