π§ Expect a Downtown Detour This Week

A temporary traffic lane shift is in effect this week on North Tejon, just north of Pikes Peak Ave and South of Kiowa, to allow crews to relocate a fire hydrant as part of the broader Tejon Street Revitalization Project. Southbound traffic will detour into the center turn lane for a short stretch, but no water service interruptions are expected.
This is all part of an effort to make the area more pedestrian-friendly, expand outdoor dining, and boost downtown activity. Things should return to normal by May 23.

ποΈ COS Parks Report Packed with Wins

When it comes to caring for our cityβs parks, trails, and cultural treasures, Colorado Springs continues to raise the bar. The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department just released its annual report, and itβs full of projects that reflect both heart and forward thinking.
Among the standout highlights: the beautifully restored 1903 El Paso County Courthouse, home of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. With modern updates and expanded exhibit space, the museum is now even better equipped to preserve our local history. The city also added a new downtown dog park at Antlers Park, giving furry friends and their humans a much-needed gathering space. On the sustainability front, upgraded irrigation systems are helping save water while keeping parks, golf courses, and even historic cemeteries looking their best.
Itβs clear our city is investing in places and spaces that bring people togetherβand keep our stories alive for generations to come.

π What Happened Near Academy Last Night?

Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at a Public Storage facility on Van Teylingen Dr, south of Academy and Austin Bluffs last night, where multiple units were engulfed.
Emergency crews called for backup as the fire spread, and the area remains under investigation. There are no reported injuries at this time, but the full extent of the damage is still unknown with no updates at this time.
#ColoradoSpringsFire is on scene of a #workingstructurefire at 3845 Van Teylingen Dr.
Crews on scene are working multiple storage units in fire. A second alarm has been ordered. Please avoid the area and be cautious of additional crews responding.
