👩🍳 Don't Miss This Food Network Winner's Black Forest Bistro
🏆 Award-Winning Flavors, Intimate Atmosphere 🥰
At Black Forest Bistro, owner Chef Deanna Johnson's passion for food isn't just a career choice—it's a lifelong love affair. As a child, Deanna spent countless hours in her father's French bistros, peeling vegetables and bussing tables. These early years planted the seeds of her culinary passion, even as her path initially led her into the corporate world.
Years later, after a successful marketing career, Deanna found herself drawn back to her culinary roots and to the charm of Colorado Springs. Captivated by the Black Forest area, after an unforeseen layoff, she knew she had found the perfect time and place to bring her culinary dreams back to life.
This local celebrity, who won Food Network's Food Truck Fan Fight, has created a dining atmosphere that feels like being welcomed into a friend's home. As you scan the ever-changing menu, you'll notice dishes showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients. Chef Deanna personally shops for and hand-picks every component, from locally sourced meats and vegetables to seafood flown in specially for the week's creations.
The star attraction is the Cheese Wheel Experience. Chef Deanna's home-made pasta is brought tableside to a massive wheel of imported Parmesan. Specially trained chef Lilly combines the pasta with a warm cream blend inside the wheel, creating a rich, velvety sauce that coats each strand perfectly. The irresistible aroma fills the air as you savor this unique dish. For those looking to enhance their meal, the day's special protein or vegetable options are available as add-ons.

From award-winning bartender Flip's hand-crafted cocktails to the attentive service, every detail is designed to make your visit unforgettable.
So, whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving an extraordinary dinner, Black Forest Bistro promises a culinary adventure that will leave you planning your next visit before you've even finished dessert.

🚨 Why Officials Say “Prepare Now”

From wildfires to flooding, the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management (PPROEM) handles it all for El Paso County and Colorado Springs. Their job is to keep the community safe through planning, coordination, and response when large-scale emergencies hit. But they can't do it alone. They’re asking residents to take small steps now—like preparing an emergency kit, making a family plan, and learning evacuation routes.
If you're unsure how ready you are, pproem.com offers checklists, resources, and tips to help you and your loved ones stay safe before the next siren sounds.
💡 AI vs Reality: Debunking 5 Common Myths About Artificial Intelligence
Let's talk about AI. There's a lot of buzz, hype, and sometimes, downright misinformation floating around. As your trusted guide, I want to set the record straight and bust some common AI myths.
Myth #4: AI is always accurate
❌ Reality: False! AI-generated content may be incorrect. AI is only as good as the data it's trained on. It can sometimes produce inaccurate, biased, or nonsensical results. It's crucial to always review and verify AI-generated content before using it.
✅ Remember: AI is a powerful tool, but it's not a substitute for human judgment

👵 New Senior Center Unveiled

The brand-new Colorado Springs Senior Center at 1514 N Hancock is nearly complete, offering a bright, thoughtfully designed space with a multipurpose event room, pickleball courts, exercise and tech rooms, a “living room” hangout, clinic, and indoor/outdoor dining.
A grand opening celebration is set for Friday, August 29, from 10:00am to 2:00pm with live music, refreshments, a ribbon cutting by Mayor Yemi, and tours of the facility. It’s a modern, welcoming hub for older adults and community connection.
🧡 ATV Accidents Are Spiking—Here’s Help

With ATV injuries climbing in Colorado, a new local safety effort is gaining momentum. The OHV 2025 Workgroup, with partners like UCHealth and Stay the Trail, hosted a summer outreach event at Rainbow Falls to promote safer riding habits. Visitors learned how helmets and slow speeds can save lives, picked up free resources, and even toured a LifeLine helicopter. The program focuses on rider education, safe practices, and protective gear to reduce avoidable ER visits—and ensure more riders get home safely.
