🚱 Don't Fall for This Water Kit Scam!

Courtesy: Colorado Springs Utilities
If you happen to receive an unexpected water testing kit in the mail, Springs Utilities wants you to know — it’s not from them. While they do conduct official water testing from time to time, they always reach out to residents in advance and clearly mark their kits.
These unrequested tests are likely part of a sales tactic from private companies looking to market expensive water filtration systems. If you get one, toss it and don’t share any of your personal info. If you’re ever unsure, contact Springs Utilities directly at (719) 448-4800. Staying informed helps keep you and your household safe.

🌶️ What’s Roasting at the State Fair?

Get ready for the heat! The Colorado State Fair returns to Pueblo starting this Fri, Aug. 22, and it’s a full-circle moment for local farmers like Musso Farms. Think of it as their Super Bowl—with Pueblo green chiles taking center stage. Even with all the recent rain, the harvest looks great, and the flavors range from mild to mouth-on-fire. This is one of those classic Colorado traditions you’ve got to taste to appreciate. Whether you're heading down for the music, the memories, or the mouthwatering meals, this weekend, support our local growers and fill up on flavor. Full Story

🚓 Local DUI Crackdown Results Are In

Last Friday’s sobriety checkpoints on Highway 16 (Mesa Ridge Pkwy) in El Paso County and Hwy 119 in Gilpin County stopped more than 1,200 drivers, with 13 ending up arrested for DUI. In our own backyard, 537 drivers were checked near Fountain, and seven were arrested. These routine checkpoints help keep our roads safer, especially heading into weekends.
Colorado drivers should remember that impaired driving—whether from alcohol, cannabis, or prescription meds—can come with serious financial, legal, and personal consequences. The best choice? Stay put, call a ride, or make a plan in advance. Full Story

🛩️ TRIVIA: History Takes Flight—Can You Guess Where?

Did you know that Colorado Springs was chosen as the home for the National Museum of World War II Aviation because of its deep aviation heritage and military connections? Today—on National Aviation Day—you can tour 28 fully restored planes and even watch them take off, making it one of the few places in the world where World War II aircraft actually fly.
Besides historic aircraft, what kind of vehicles are on display at the National Museum of World War II Aviation that supported aviation efforts?
Colorado Springs has shaped aviation history since the 1930s, and this museum was specially built here in 2012 to inspire future generations and honor both local and global pioneers.
Address: 775 Aviation Way, COS 80916, WorldWariiAviation.org
Open 7 Days-a-Week Through Sun, Sept 7th
Winter/Fall Schedule Begins Mon, Sept 8th: Open Wed-Sun, 10am-5pm

Answer: Specialized military vehicles used to defend and support forward air bases during the war and played a crucial role in protecting and maintaining the airfields where pilots took off for combat missions.
