❤️ The 45-Year Nurse Who Sees What Others Miss 👀
🤫 See why families are specifically requesting these special graduates
One woman arrived with downcast eyes, her spirit broken. Years of domestic abuse had convinced her she wasn't "smart enough" to succeed at anything. When Ellen MacAlester welcomed her that first day, she saw what others had missed – beneath the doubt lay a profound capacity for empathy that could transform lives.
After 45 years in nursing, Ellen recognized this pattern throughout Colorado Springs: compassionate people who could provide desperately needed care, if only someone would show them the way. Families struggled to find quality caregivers for aging parents or family members with chronic conditions, while potential healthcare workers lacked the pathway to turn their natural compassion into flourishing careers or confidence to be the caregiver they needed to be.
That's when A+ Nurse Aide School became the bridge. In this intimate classroom, you're personally mentored through an intensive one-month journey. Ellen's hands-on approach ensures no student falls through the cracks, providing personalized support as you master the 23 essential skills in a fully equipped lab before applying them with actual patients.
Today, that once-doubtful woman serves as a Certified Nursing Assistant, using her unique perspective to support other abuse survivors. Her transformation represents the school's deeper mission: creating caregivers who become the steady hand patients trust and the listening ear they look forward to seeing each day. This is just one of many life-changing journeys that begin in the A+ Nurse Aide School classroom every month.
If you feel called to care – whether for a loved one or as a meaningful career path – this could be your story too. With payment plans and workforce connections available, your journey can begin now.

🚧 Why Hwy 24 Is Back in the News Again

The eastbound side of Hwy 24 between Cave of the Winds and Sunshine Trail is once again showing signs of erosion after recent storms, raising safety concerns for drivers and residents. Although CDOT crews stabilized the shoulder just weeks ago, new rainfall has washed away parts of it again.
Temporary repairs are underway between storms while engineers work on a long-term plan. Drivers should expect lane closures and use caution through the area. CDOT encourages anyone who sees issues to report them directly, as they continue to prioritize safety in this challenging mountain corridor. Full Story
😔 Developing Story Near East Las Vegas Bridge

Emergency crews from CSPD and CSFD responded to Shooks Run Creek yesterday morning, where they recovered the body of a drowning victim near the East Las Vegas Street Bridge. The incident temporarily closed part of East Las Vegas as crews worked at the scene. Investigators are looking into whether this case is connected to a swift water rescue call received the previous evening. At this time, details remain limited as the case is still unfolding. 📞 Mental Health Shift You Didn’t Expect

A new study by Thriveworks reveals a promising shift—more men are using the 988 mental health lifeline than ever before. In fact, 80% of Spanish-speaking and over half of English-speaking callers were men. While stigma still exists, especially around discussing mental health with friends or spouses, the accessibility and privacy of the 988 line appear to be breaking down barriers.
The study also highlighted finances, relationships, and current events as top stressors. With support from local and national organizations, and resources tailored for men in Colorado, the path to healing is becoming more visible—and more reachable—for those who once felt it was out of reach.
