As the high-risk summer travel period comes to a close, Colorado State Patrol is urging drivers to stay vigilant year-round. Known as the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer,” the stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day consistently sees the most fatal crashes and impaired drivers. Though this year’s crash numbers may be slightly down, the threat remains serious. It’s a reminder that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, no matter the season. Full Story
🐦 Why You Should Turn Off Your Porch Light

Every September, millions of birds travel over Colorado during their fall migration, mostly at night. But artificial lighting from homes and buildings can disorient them, leading to fatal collisions. Nearly half of all bird deaths from building strikes happen at smaller buildings—including houses. This month, residents are encouraged to turn off unnecessary outdoor lights or use shielding to protect migrating birds. The peak migration runs from Sept. 1–24, with some nights seeing over 3.5 million birds in flight above the state. By simply dimming the lights, Coloradans can play a part in helping birds reach their southern destinations safely. Full Story
