The best HR advice comes from people who’ve been in the trenches.
That’s what this newsletter delivers.
I Hate it Here is your insider’s guide to surviving and thriving in HR, from someone who’s been there. It’s not about theory or buzzwords — it’s about practical, real-world advice for navigating everything from tricky managers to messy policies.
Every newsletter is written by Hebba Youssef — a Chief People Officer who’s seen it all and is here to share what actually works (and what doesn’t). We’re talking real talk, real strategies, and real support — all with a side of humor to keep you sane.
Because HR shouldn’t feel like a thankless job. And you shouldn’t feel alone in it.

🚧 GOG Road Construction

Starting today, the City of Colorado Springs is starting a much-needed safety project on Garden of the Gods Rd just west of I-25. With over 47 accidents (16 involving injuries) in this area between 2015–2020, the improvements are focused on reducing high-risk maneuvers like crossing all six lanes or making unsafe left turns from business exits.
Construction will temporarily close some lanes and limit left turns, but when it wraps up in 6–8 weeks, drivers can expect longer medians, clearer turn options, and a safer flow through one of our busiest corridors. Funded by CDOT and the Pikes Peak RTA, the $1.96M investment is meant to save lives — and make that commute just a little less stressful.
