π§ Lane Closures & Holiday Break

Heads up, S Academy drivers! CDOT will have alternating lane closures between Venetucci and Milton Proby Pkwy through Wednesday as crews handle utility and signage improvements. Two lanes will stay open in both directions, but delays are possible during 7:00am to 4:30pm.
Work will pause for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, giving everyone a smoother drive and a chance to enjoy the long weekend before construction resumes.

π Tree Permits Now Available

For those who love the tradition of cutting your own Christmas tree, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is once again offering holiday permits across Colorado for a small fee between $8 and $10. Trees can only be cut in designated areas, so a detailed mapβavailable online or at local field officesβis a must.
The BLM advises participants to plan ahead and pack essentials such as a handsaw, rope, food, blankets, and even tire chains for mountain conditions. After finding your perfect tree, make sure to attach the haul tag provided with your permit before heading home as you bring a little wilderness charm into your living room.
ποΈ Hiring Struggles Hit Springs Hard

A new report shows Colorado leading the nation in the shift from private to public sector employment, with more than 15,000 private jobs lost while government positions grew by a similar number. Local companies like Colorado Springs-based IICON, working on projects for Atlas Prep Middle School and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, say hiring has become tougher as competition for skilled workers increases.
The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC notes that most of the growth is in government administrationβnot teaching, policing, or public safetyβand warns that as more residents leave the state, growing bureaucracy could weigh down taxpayers and small businesses. Leaders are calling for policies that better support private enterprise to help restore balance to Coloradoβs economy. Full Story
