๐ Presidents Day Closures

El Paso County administrative offices and many affiliated agencies will be closed today in observance of Presidents Day. Emergency services, including 9-1-1, patrol, and detention operations, will continue as usual.
Several offices including the Assessor, Clerk & Recorder, Courts, Public Health, and Human Services will be closed. Also the Post Office will be closed as well as banks.
The DMV has an extended closure through Thurs, February 19.
๐ง 4-Week Closure Ahead

Starting today, Feb 16, Hancock Expressway at Circle Dr will be closed for roughly 4 weeks while crews complete bridge work as part of the Circle Drive Bridges project.
Northbound traffic will be redirected via S Circle and westbound Hwy 24, while southbound drivers can use eastbound Hwy 24 and E Fountain Blvd to connect to Academy Blvd.
The schedule is weather-dependent, so timelines may shift. Street signage and the project hotline will provide updated information throughout construction as the city continues long-term infrastructure improvements in the area.
๐ USA Eyes More Podiums - Olympics Update
On Day 11, Team USA is stacking up strong performances at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games and this weekend brought everything from dominant wins to dramatic comebacks.

The U.S. menโs hockey team powered past Germany and earned a spot straight into the quarterfinals. On the ice in Cortina, both the menโs and womenโs curling teams picked up impressive victories, including a comeback win for the women and a statement win over defending champs Sweden for the men.
On the snow, Americans are advancing across multiple events. Snowboarders and freeski athletes punched tickets to slopestyle and big air finals, while the U.S. skeleton team competed in the Olympic debut of the mixed team event. In monobob, Elana Meyers Taylor and Kaillie Humphries are sitting in medal position midway through competition.
Itโs been a weekend of momentum, grit, and a whole lot of red, white, and blue energy.

๐ต Wellness: Wisdom at 92
A 92-year-old shares 10 honest lessons about aging and why your 60s matter more than you think.
Remember, our Local Senior wellness educator Kristen Nielsen, founder of TogetherWon shares simple ways to gently train your brain and body together, helping you feel more confident about your balance over time. This is directly related to the above advice to keep yourself strong and sharp as you age.
I have to be honest, Iโve been doing these 1-minute exercises myself, and I am in constant admiration of how Kristen challenges us to be stronger in such simple ways. We are so fortunate to have her wisdom 2x per month here to help us navigate real life with confidence.
