The #1 Roth Conversion Mistake That Costs Retirees
Most people missed the first Roth conversion window. History is offering a rare second chance — but not a long one.
With today's tax rates extended, IRA Millionaires have a brief stretch of historically low brackets left. When it closes, the math changes: higher rates, bigger required distributions, and fewer conversion opportunities each year you wait.
Craig Wear, CFP®, has spent 15+ years helping more than 3,000 families with $1M+ in IRAs plan Roth conversions — helping them avoid a projected $10B+ in lifetime taxes. His new book, Roth Conversion Reset, is the step-by-step playbook:
Lock in today's low rates
Avoid RMD surprises at 73
Protect your spouse from survivor taxes
Keep more for your heirs
The book is free — no credit card, no shipping. The full PDF lands in your inbox in minutes.

🚧 The Road Work Rundown

Several busy Colorado Springs roads have construction, lane changes or closures happening now. Here’s what we know and where you could run into delays:
🚧 8th St near Walmart/Fountain Creek: Traffic patterns have shifted again because of water-main and bridge work. Starting today, one temporary southbound lane on the Fountain Creek bridge will close for about two months while additional bridge repairs are completed.
⛔ Wooten Rd. south of Galley: Closing today for several months while crews replace and improve the culvert beneath the intersection (phase 2). Drivers will be detoured via Geiger Blvd and Babcock Rd. Business access remains open from the south. Wooten north of Galley is expected to reopen today, completing the phase 1 of construction.

🚗 Academy Blvd, Austin Bluffs to N Carefree: Recent paving is temporary maintenance, meant to hold the deteriorating roadway together until a full repaving through the City’s 2C program.
🛣️ Fountain Blvd, Academy to Powers: CDOT recently completed maintenance paving on portions of the eastbound lanes. A larger repaving project covering Fountain Blvd/Expressway between I-25 and Powers is planned for 2028.
⚠️ US 24, Powers to Peterson Rd: Drivers are seeing another round of maintenance paving this year as crews continue working on the roadway.
The biggest immediate heads-up is 8th St, where the new lane closure begins today. Give yourself extra time and expect traffic patterns around the construction zone to keep changing. Full Story
🐦 Your Feeder Is Worth 20%

If your bird feeder has survived a few Colorado winters, determined squirrels and countless hungry visitors, this might be the perfect excuse for an upgrade.
Through Sat, Aug 22, Wild Birds Unlimited is offering 20% off a new bird feeder when you bring in your clean, used feeder. It can be in any condition, so even that well-loved one that has seen better days qualifies.
It’s an easy way to freshen up your backyard birdwatching setup before the seasons change.

UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial Hospital North are now the first hospitals in Colorado using a new blood test that can help determine whether an adult with a possible mild brain injury may actually need a CT scan.
The bedside test uses just a few drops of blood and looks for proteins that can be released after a brain injury. Results come back in about 15 minutes. If those proteins are not detected, doctors may be able to safely rule out the need for a CT scan. If the test is positive, additional imaging may still be needed.
UCHealth says the test has already been used more than 175 times and helped avoid CT scans in about 80% of those cases.
The test is currently for adults 18 and older and must be used within 24 hours of the injury.

😳 I Have 6 of These. Do You?
Vitamin D deficiency can be easy to overlook because some possible symptoms are surprisingly common. If several sound familiar, consider asking your healthcare provider whether testing makes sense.
This one caught my attention because I can check off at least 6 of the 11 and might be worth asking about rather than guessing.
Watch the video below and count how many sound familiar to you. 👇
