🥾 Chase Fall Color to Pancake Rocks
🍂 If you've been waiting for a good excuse to take a fall drive toward Cripple Creek, this might be it. With the leaves changing in the area, the trip to Pancake Rocks offers a chance to enjoy the fall color before you even hit the trail.
The Pancake Rocks Trail, accessed from Highway 67 between Divide and Cripple Creek, climbs through spruce and fir forest before reaching the unusual stacked rock formations that give the hike its name. The roughly 6-mile round trip gains about 1,200 feet in elevation, so expect a workout, especially at more than 10,000 feet.
Along the way, you'll find forest, alpine meadows, golden aspens and views across the Teller County high country. Once you reach Pancake Rocks, the layered formations make a pretty satisfying reward for all that climbing.

Distance: About 6 miles round trip
Difficulty: Moderate to challenging
Parking: Along Highway 67
🐕 Dogs: Allowed, but should be leashed
Bring plenty of water, dress in layers and remember that mountain weather can change quickly.
