🤲 They Have 5,000 Reasons to Work for Free

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 And each one has a name, a face, and a story that will stay with you

A traumatized woman arrives at the hospital with nothing but the clothes on her back—clothes that must be cut away for evidence. Hours later, a volunteer appears with a carefully chosen outfit in her size, something dignified and new. A teenager aging out of foster care runs their hands over the soft sheets of their very first bed, whispering they've never had one of their own before. A preschooler's eyes widen as they hear clearly for the first time, suddenly understanding why everyone's lips move when they talk.

These aren't three different charities. This is ONE organization. ONE group of volunteers. ONE little thrift boutique making it all possible.

The force behind this work is as profound as it is simple: no one at B-COS We Care draws a salary. The volunteers who sort donations run 8 distinct programs and serve over 5,000 people annually, show up every day for the love of being in service, not a paycheck.

The ecosystem is beautifully simple yet remarkably delicate. Your neighbor donates items to the Bargain Box. You buy that $6 sweater. That $6 joins thousands of other small purchases, funding beds, hearing tests, dignity-restoring clothes, angel gowns for grieving families, school supplies, and birthday celebrations for children who've never had one.

Remove any element in this cycle, and the whole thing withers. No donations? No inventory. No volunteers? No store. No shoppers? No funds for programs. Most nonprofits have paid staff and safety nets. B-COS We Care runs purely on faith that neighbors will keep showing up for neighbors. For 55 years, they've never wavered.
