🦌 Moose Sightings on the Rise

A young moose was rescued from a neighborhood in NE Colorado Springs, near Cottonwood Creek Park after wandering into the area on a particularly hot day. Wildlife officers, with help from the CSFD, safely cooled the animal down and relocated it to more natural surroundings.
This comes amid increasing sightings of moose in populated areas like Old Colorado City, a sign that the species is spreading into new parts of the state. Residents are reminded to keep dogs leashed and give moose plenty of space to avoid dangerous encounters, and to always contact wildlife officials rather than intervene on their own.
💡 New Energy Rates Start July 1—Here’s Why

Courtesy: FOX21 News file photo
Colorado Springs residents can expect a minor adjustment to your utility bills starting July 1, following the City Council’s approval of a new rate structure. While natural gas prices are expected to rise in the fall, Springs Utilities is lowering the electric cost adjustment to help balance the impact.
For most residential customers, this means a small change—roughly 25 cents more or less per month. The utility continues using long-term purchasing strategies and seasonal storage to minimize market fluctuations. Commercial customers may see higher increases, while some industrial users could see a decrease. Full Story
🚔 CSPD Just Made This Much Easier

If you ever need to report a crime, keep this in mind…Colorado Springs Police Department is expanding how residents can report non-emergency crimes, now offering quicker online reporting for incidents like identity theft, license plate theft, and property damage. This means less waiting and more convenience for those needing to file reports.
At the same time, CSPD is joining forces with the 988 Mental Health Hotline to better serve people experiencing a mental health crisis. Instead of waiting on an officer when there’s no immediate danger, individuals can now be directly connected to a licensed mental health provider. These thoughtful updates aim to get residents the right kind of help—faster. Full Story
