Quality, Tested CBD – and Why It Matters

CBD is increasingly popular, with hundreds of products designed to provide everything from better sleep to relief and recovery to increased focus. Once you’ve figured out which CBD formula is right for you, it’s important to be able to trust that what’s in the bottle or jar matches what’s on the label.

This is where third-party testing comes in. Independent labs test CBD products, verifying the cannabinoid content matches what’s on the label and screening for the presence of heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants.

Unlike some companies that cut corners, CBDistillery ensures that every single batch of their CBD products are tested by an accredited lab. And these test results are posted on their website, so you can see them before you place your order.

CBDistillery is so sure you’ll like their products, they’re offering a special deal: save 50% on orders of $75 or more with code NEWS50!

🚘 When Did Kids Become Our Teachers?

Safe Streets COS campaign, "Remember What You Learned,"

Colorado Springs schoolchildren are stepping up to remind adults of the basics we all learned long ago: wait your turn, be kind, pay attention, and slow down. Those familiar lessons are the heart of the new Safe Streets COS campaign, "Remember What You Learned," launched in partnership with the City, Colorado Springs Police Department, and Drive Smart Colorado.

The campaign features local kids delivering those timeless messages through TV and radio public service announcements, digital ads, billboards across town, and social media. It's a warm reminder that safe driving isn't complicated. It's the stuff we all already know. The City's goal: reduce serious injury and fatal crashes by 35% by 2035.

πŸŽƒ Miners' Pumpkin Patch Is Back at WMMI!

Miners' Pumpkin Patch at the Western Museum of Mining & Industry

The Miners' Pumpkin Patch at the Western Museum of Mining & Industry is open every Saturday in October (9am to 4pm), and there's still time to go! Think beyond the usual fall fest. Alongside pumpkin picking, hay rides, food trucks, and lawn games, you'll find gold panning, live blacksmith demonstrations, machinery exhibits, and a vintage apple cider press. This year also adds Spooky Stories at the Stamp Mill! Something new happens each weekend, from magician appearances to animal encounters.

Best of all, every visit supports WMMI's educational programs and preservation work. Note: on Oct 31, the patch closes at 2pm. Bring the whole family and make a fall memory right here in Colorado Springs.

πŸ’§ That Water May Be Toxic

A new study found PFAS "forever chemicals" in 63% of the 16 Colorado waterways tested, including three separate sites along Antler Creek right here in our backyard. The research, led by Environment Colorado, the CoPIRG Foundation, and the Frontier Group, is calling for expanded testing and the elimination of products that cause this contamination.

Antler Creek flows through our neighborhoods and is used daily by residents for walking and bird-watching. Researchers warn this is likely "just the tip of the toxic iceberg" since many waterways haven't been tested at all. PFAS chemicals show up in everyday items like non-stick pans, fast food packaging, and waterproof clothing. They've been linked to cancer, lower fertility, developmental delays, and immune issues.

Colorado has taken steps, including water filters in Security-Widefield (linked to Peterson Space Force Base firefighting foam) and a statewide takeback program that's removed nearly 30,000 gallons of firefighting foam from service. But advocates say more testing and more action are needed. Full Story
