π Trivia: Colorado Beat the Nation by 27 Years

Men and women outside a polling station in Colorado 1893.
A Fight That Started With a "No"
Back in 1877, just a year after Colorado became a state, voters here were asked a big question: should women be allowed to vote? Every one of those voters was a man, and they said no. Even Susan B. Anthony came out to campaign, and it wasn't enough.
But Colorado women didn't give up. For the next 16 years, they kept going, organizing, writing, holding meetings and talking with their neighbors, husbands and sons, one conversation at a time.
In November 1893, Colorado did something no other state in the country had ever done. What was it?
Colorado Springs had a front-row seat to where the story went next. In April 1916, a train nicknamed the "Suffrage Special" pulled into our Santa Fe depot, carrying about 23 women on a tour across the West. Their mission: win the right to vote for every woman in America. In 1920, the 19th Amendment finally made it happen.

Colorado's ratification of suffrage amendment
Answer: On Nov 7, 1893, Colorado became the first state where voters approved giving women the right to vote in all Colorado elections, 27 years before the 19th Amendment gave that right to women nationwide!
The men of Colorado voted it in, 35,798 to 29,551. And women put that new vote to work right away. The very next year, in 1894, Colorado voters elected Clara Cressingham, Carrie Clyde Holly and Frances Klock to the Colorado House of Representatives, the first women ever elected to any state legislature in America. *Source
