๐Ÿฅ› Bird Flu Spurs El Paso County Health Inquiry

El Paso County health officials are investigating the transmission of bird flu among animals following USDA's new restrictions on dairy cattle, prompted by increasing cases across eight states. There's apprehension about its potential impact on the food supply, particularly milk.

The restrictions entail testing dairy cows for the Influenza A virus, including bird flu, before interstate travel, and providing epidemiological data for positive cases. Local shoppers express concerns about public health implications, urging companies to prioritize safety measures. Updates on health guidelines and CDC monitoring efforts are on their website.

๐Ÿ’ฃ Colorado College Bomb Drill Tests Campus Response

Colorado Springs police and Colorado College campus security participated in a bomb training exercise at the campus mail center yesterday. The drill, simulating a suspicious package scenario, involved shutting down intersections and evacuating students without prior notice to ensure an authentic response. While students were informed it was a drill upon encountering the simulation, pedestrians were directed to the opposite side of the street. CSPD emphasized the importance of campus safety and preparedness. Police plan to review the drill to identify areas of success and areas for improvement.

๐Ÿณ Blackened Chicken Breast

Created by local Colorado Springs chef, Jason Miller at Season Two Taste. He says, you can't deny the appeal of a quick and simple one pan seared chicken breast covered in a flavorful spice blend! This New Orleans staple of creole cuisine results in juicy, succulent, and tender chicken with a spicy Louisiana twist.

*Our COS TT staff recently made this recipe and the chicken came out perfectly, as described. Creole isnโ€™t our taste so we just used a different spice combo so donโ€™t let that stop you from making this dish. We served over a bed of hot, buttered noodles and side of roasted carrots.
