๐ฒ PikeView Quarry Reclaimed: 31K Trees Planted
After 16 years, the PikeView Quarry in Colorado Springs started its last reclamation phase, initiating the planting of 31,000 trees. The reclamation process, divided into three phases, involves stabilizing the mountain, creating underground trench drains, and planting native vegetation. Once the trees and shrubs are in place, the site will be monitored for a year before potential donation as park land. The future use of the area, possibly as a mountain bike park, remains under consideration.
๐ต D20 Faces Cybersecurity Scare
Academy District 20 responds to a potential cybersecurity threat, resulting in a district-wide internet and phone outage and a two-hour delay yesterday. While schools resume normal operations today, internet service restoration is anticipated later in the day. Concerns arise regarding communication channels and data security, but the district assures ongoing efforts with its network provider, Palo Alto as they rebuild the firewall.
๐ Skirted Heifer Rises Again
Skirted Heifer, a cherished eatery downtown resumes operations following a three-month closure due to a car crashing into the building. Owner Kevin Mcgarry, expresses gratitude for community support and unveils enhancements, such as a new garage door offering outdoor views. Despite challenges, Mcgarry remains optimistic and looks forward to the official grand reopening today.
๐ฅ Oven roasted carrots with parmesan
Created by local Colorado Springs chef, Jason Miller at Season Two Taste. This delicious side dish recipe captures the natural sweetness of the whole carrots, and is fantastically simple to make! (This also is a perfect side with the Blackened Chicken Breast recipe we shared)
