๐Ÿต From Land to Legacy: Asian Heritage Center Project

๐ŸŽ‹ Golden Lotus Foundation: Cultivating Culture and Community

In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we are shining a spotlight on the Golden Lotus Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2011, that has been a vibrant part of the Colorado Springs community for nearly 14 years. Their mission is to provide opportunities for all generations to experience the richness of Asian art and cultural traditions. Through educational initiatives, community programs, and engaging events, they strive to pass along heritage traditions and foster a deeper understanding of Asian cultures.

In December 2021, a significant milestone was reached when the Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services partnered with the Golden Lotus Foundation to acquire 8.48 acres of the former Stratton historic park in the Broadmoor neighborhood. This beautiful space, located at 1819 W Cheyenne Road, has been designated as the Asian Heritage Center. While the land is secured, the Golden Lotus Foundation is actively raising funds to bring their vision to life. Their dream is to create a gathering place where the community can celebrate Asian heritage amidst botanical gardens, a serene Yin-Yang garden, a welcoming tea house, and a playful zodiac playground. The first step will be building the tea house, a central element of the project.
