🎯 'Ivy Mass' Training Highlights Unity at Fort Carson
Fort Carson has completed 'Ivy Mass,' its largest joint task force training exercise to date. The weeklong event involved 31 Department of Defense organizations and integrated multiple military branches to enhance readiness for modern combat. The exercise showcased advanced technologies and emphasized the importance of cohesive operations across air, ground, cyber, and space domains.
Observers from the Pentagon and defense contractors attended, seeking ways to improve military capabilities. This extensive training aims to prepare the U.S. military for evolving threats through effective collaboration and communication among the services.
🚫 Blodgett Open Space Appeal Rejected by Council
Yesterday, after a marathon public meeting, the Colorado Springs City Council has upheld the Blodgett Open Space Master Plan, denying an appeal from a citizens group concerned about potential environmental impacts and the nature of recreational activities proposed in the plan. Despite objections, the plan was backed by extensive public participation and expert guidance. A minor amendment was made to limit parking lot size and require future public input for expansion.
🏠 Learn Your Rights: Free Renters Workshop
City of Colorado Springs will hold a free “Renters Rights 101” workshop on June 13 at Ruth Holley Library, focusing on key topics such as lease agreements, accommodations, deposits, repairs, evictions, and recent changes in Colorado housing laws. Colorado Legal Services attorney Clinton Albert will lead the session, providing attendees with valuable insights and resources. The workshop will run from 5 to 7pm, and participants can also join online.
🏫 Trivia Challenge: Discover Schoolhouse to Hotspot
Once an elementary school built in 1916, Ivywild School closed in 2009 due to declining enrollment. Fast forward to 2013, this historical building at 1604 S Cascade Ave was reborn as a vibrant mixed-use commercial center, housing local eateries, a brewery, a bakery, and communal spaces.
Today, as you approach, the preserved exterior façade will take you back to your school days, but don't be fooled – once you walk through the doors, you'll find a unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary experiences. Visit Ivywild School to enjoy some delicious food and specialty drinks – plenty of parking available!
❓ Which of the following original features of the Ivywild Elementary School was preserved during its renovation transformation? |
