🚒 Enhancing Fire Protection at Popular Springs Park

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods, our highly visited park, is undergoing a new waterline project to improve fire safety. The initiative will add eight new fire hydrants to the current four, bringing the total to twelve. An 8,000-foot waterline will also be installed to ensure a consistent water supply for firefighting. The project aims to enhance fire response capabilities, particularly in the Columbia St neighborhood, where water pressure is currently insufficient. Construction, starting in September, includes additional amenities such as a new year-round bathroom and parking lot. The park will stay open to the public during this time, with measures in place to protect its unique geological features and ecosystem.

🏫 Legal Defeat for Districts on Pre-K

A court has overturned a lawsuit filed by Harrison School District 2, Cherry Creek School District, and other educational organizations against Colorado's Universal Pre-K (UPK) program. The plaintiffs argued the program was inadequately funded and planned, affecting special education and equal protections for students. Despite the ruling, the districts remain committed to advocating for equitable access and improvements. Governor Jared Polis praised the decision, highlighting the program's success in serving over 46,000 students last year. Full Story

🚧 Lane Closures for Safety Project

Traffic lane closures

Starting today, July 16, Bradley Rd under the S Academy bridge will have lane closures and full nighttime closures as part of the Military Access, Mobility & Safety Improvement Project. The work includes installing new drainage pipes and reconstructing ramps, leading to extended closures of Hartford St on-ramps. Traffic will be diverted through detours, click for full details. These modifications aim to improve safety and mobility but are subject to weather conditions.

🌀 Steady Steps: Dizziness Exercises

Vestibular rehabilitation exercises are recommended for relieving dizziness, vertigo, and motion sensitivity. These exercises, designed for beginners, improve balance, coordination, and focus. It is essential to consult a healthcare professional before starting. Consistent practice is key, with noticeable improvements typically seen within 2-6 weeks. Exercises include gaze stabilization, head movements, balance exercises, and more.
