📝 Springs Chosen for 2026 Census Test

The U.S. Census Bureau has designated Colorado Springs as one of six test sites for the 2026 Census. This test aims to refine methodologies for the 2030 Census, focusing on enhancing online, phone, and mail responses, and improving in-person data collection. Special emphasis will be placed on counting hard-to-reach populations, including those in military housing, which is a significant factor for Colorado Springs. The test will help ensure a more accurate count in 2030 by addressing challenges unique to the selected areas.

🏍️ Colorado Springs Preps for New Motorcycle Law

Heads up…starting August 7, Colorado will allow motorcyclists to pass vehicles within the same lane under specific conditions. This new law aims to improve road-sharing safety amid high motorcyclist fatality rates, particularly in El Paso County. Key rules include passing stopped vehicles at no more than 15 mph and ensuring sufficient lane width. Motorcyclists are urged to wear helmets, as many fatalities involve riders without them. 🚗 CSP Shares Auto Theft Prevention Hacks

Colorado State Patrol highlights key strategies to prevent auto theft in Colorado Springs. Simple actions like locking your vehicle and removing valuables can significantly reduce theft risk. With 47,071 auto theft incidents in 2022, CSP stresses the importance of vigilance and offers free resources, including catalytic converter etching kits and steering wheel locks. Motorists are urged to avoid leaving vehicles running unattended, keep doors locked, and check used vehicle VINs for theft history. Comprehensive insurance is recommended to cover potential theft losses.
