🥰 Romance Rekindled: Your Victorian Escape at Holden House
☕️ Meet Sallie & Welling: Where Hospitality is Reimagined
Stepping into Holden House 1902 Bed & Breakfast Inn is like opening a storybook of Colorado Springs history. Since 1986, Sallie and Welling Clark have lovingly tended this trio of Victorian homes, creating a charming adults-only retreat that blends bygone charm with modern comfort.
Their journey began with a shared love for Colorado and a desire to create something special. Sallie, with her passion for antiques and warm hospitality, and Welling, seeking a new chapter after his Navy service, poured their hearts into transforming a historic 1902 Victorian home into the charming inn it is today. The Inn features six uniquely designed suites, each boasting modern comforts like private baths, TV’s and fireplaces, alongside the charm of antique furnishings and historical touches that whisper tales of the past.
The hallmark of Holden House is its tailored hospitality, where innkeepers share insider tips to help guests fully embrace the magic of the Pikes Peak Region. Additionally, Sallie's gourmet breakfasts get rave reviews, served in the elegant dining room or, for a romantic twist, in the privacy of your suite. Afternoon wine socials and 24-hour coffee service invite lingering conversations on wraparound porches.
For locals, Holden House is the perfect "staycation" escape. Its central location near Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs and Downtown Colorado Springs makes it ideal for rediscovering your own backyard or hosting out-of-town visitors. The Independence Suite even offers ADA-accessible accommodations, ensuring everyone can experience the warmth of a true bed and breakfast.
As Holden House enters its fourth decade, the Clarks' commitment to hospitality and community shines brighter than ever. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful solo retreat, this local treasure promises to wrap you in history, comfort, and genuine care.

🏥 Free Healthcare for Those in Need
We couldn't resist sharing this heartwarming story of how Zelna Joseph has transformed the Mission Medical Center in Colorado Springs into a vital resource for those needing free medical care. Since February 2023, she has led the faith-based nonprofit, providing comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health services to individuals without health insurance or only catastrophic coverage.
Despite suffering a stroke due to job stress, Joseph persevered, temporarily closing the center to address financial challenges before achieving stability. Her dedication has earned her a News 5 Jefferson Award nomination. Funded by grants and donations, the center serves El Paso and Teller counties, supported by nursing students and only volunteers. If you’re in need or know someone who is, please pass this along. 🤗
🔥 Blaze Destroys Cars, Canoes in City
Monday night, a fire suspected to be arson destroyed several cars, canoes, and trailers in Old Colorado City, alarming local residents. CSPD responded to calls about a vehicle fire on West Vermijo, with witnesses expressing concerns about the fire spreading to nearby homes. The blaze was contained, and fortunately, no one was injured. The vehicles were owned by Revolution Five, a leadership institute, and were used to transport young adults to various activities. Despite the significant loss, Executive Director Joseph Couch expressed relief that no lives were endangered. CSFD's arson team is investigating the incident, as evidence suggests the fire was deliberately set. Full Story
