๐ Noise Complaints Pile Up After Opening Weekend
According to multiple sources, the Ford Amphitheaterโs grand opening weekend, featuring performances by OneRepublic, resulted in over 100 noise complaints from nearby residents. While some found the noise manageable, others were disturbed by the volume levels, even with their homes sealed and fans running.
The city had granted the venue a permit allowing higher noise levels under specific conditions, and sound detection devices are in place to monitor compliance. City officials are now reviewing the data to determine if the venue exceeded the limits. The venue claims it adhered to all noise mitigation commitments, but some residents remain dissatisfied, with a few considering relocating due to the disturbance.

๐๏ธ 9/11 Ceremony Set for Memorial Park in COS
On September 11, the City of Colorado Springs will host its annual 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony at the Peace Officersโ Memorial in Memorial Park. The event, starting at 10 a.m., will include remarks from Mayor Yemi and a keynote speech by retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, who commanded the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center during the 2001 attacks. Gould will share his memories of that day and discuss the broader impact of 9/11 on the nation. This annual commemoration, a tradition since 2002, is hosted in rotation by various local entities.
๐ TRIVIA Olympic Secrets: What Did Colorado Springs Offer for Glory?
The vacancy and availability of Ent Air Force Base played a crucial role in Colorado Springs becoming the home of the U.S. Olympic Committee and Training Center. In 1978, following the Amateur Sports Act, the USOC was looking for a suitable location to establish its headquarters and a training facility for American athletes. Colorado Springs made a compelling offer that set it apart from other contenders:
