🎧 City and Venue Tackle Noise Complaints
The City of Colorado Springs and Ford Amphitheater owners are implementing significant changes to address community concerns about noise. A key measure is the expansion of the amphitheater’s eastern sound wall from two feet to 50 feet by 2025. Fireworks will also be restricted, possibly only allowed on the Fourth of July. Additionally, the venue will work with acousticians to explore further sound containment strategies, including reconfiguring speaker placements. Both the city and venue management said they are committed to continuous dialogue with the community as these changes are implemented. Only time will tell how the changes will affect the community around the venue.
👛 What’s Inside Colorado Springs' Wallet?
The 2023 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the City of Colorado Springs is now available to residents, providing a simplified and easily digestible summary of the city’s financial activities. Unlike the more comprehensive Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), the PAFR is unaudited and focuses on summarizing the city’s primary government funds without adhering to formal accounting standards. The report is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to ensure financial transparency and encourage public engagement. Residents interested in detailed financial data can access the full ACFR and other related documents on the city’s website.
🐻 Housewarming for Emmett & Digger
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is hosting a housewarming party for grizzly bears Emmett and Digger as they move into their newly renovated habitat in Rocky Mountain Wild. The upgraded enclosure includes an expanded yard, overnight den, and enhanced guest access with a new pathway. The celebration, running from Aug 31 to Sept 2, will feature keeper talks, activities, and a grizzly-themed photo station. Advance tickets are required for the event.
