🐈 Unique Downtown Opening You Can't Miss

Comfort and Joy Cat Café

New Colorado Springs' business, Comfort and Joy Cat Café, is set to have its grand opening tomorrow, Sept 6 at 3:30pm. The café, located at 615 S Nevada, partners with Teller County Regional Animal Shelter (TCRAS) to provide a space where guests can interact with adoptable cats. The initiative aims to give cats more exposure and increase their chances of finding forever homes. Since the cafe’s soft opening, five cats have been adopted. Guests can adopt directly from the café without visiting a shelter. Full Story

🚧 Plan Ahead: Construction Near Powers Today

Construction Near Powers

Right lane closure is planned for westbound Airport Rd, just west of Powers today, Sept 5, from 10am-2 pm. Construction crews will work in the closed lane, while the remaining westbound lane will stay open. No significant traffic delays are expected, and all work equipment will be removed by 2 pm. Additionally, work will take place along the left shoulder of southbound Powers during the same timeframe. All lanes will remain open, but drivers should proceed cautiously around crews. The schedule may change due to weather conditions.

🍼 You Won’t Believe What Just Arrived at CMZoo

Red River hog

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s 8-year-old Red River hog, Finn, became a first-time mother last week, surprising keepers who weren’t certain she was pregnant. The baby, born on August 29, is a lively hoglet with signature orange fur and brown-and-white striped markings. These markings, which resemble a watermelon pattern, provide camouflage and will fade by six months. The newborn is healthy, active, and bonding with Finn, who is showing strong maternal instincts.

Though Red River hog fathers are usually involved in raising their young, Gus, the baby’s father, will wait until Finn is comfortable before joining the family. The baby’s gender has not yet been identified, and its name will be decided after 30 days, in keeping with zoo tradition. Visitors can follow updates on the zoo’s Facebook page (and see this adorable video) to learn when the hoglet will make its public debut.
