🚒 Wildfire Evacuation Drill: Did It Work?
Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 conducted a large-scale wildfire evacuation drill this past Friday at The Broadmoor World Arena. Around 250 students, parents, and first responders participated in the exercise, designed to prepare the district for a potential wild fire emergency. With the help of the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management and nearby school districts, the drill tested the district’s evacuation procedures, which include transporting students to the arena and reuniting them with their parents. 🚦 Parking App Frustration: What to Do Now
Downtown visitors using Colorado Springs’ mobile parking app have reported difficulties in syncing payments with meters. While the app-based system, introduced four years ago, was designed for convenience, occasional WiFi delays between the app and meters have caused confusion. City officials note that parking enforcement officers can check payments via license plates, assuring drivers that they won’t be penalized for technical delays.
Drivers are advised to verify their license plate details before paying and to contact the city if an error occurs. The city is actively addressing the issue by installing improved WiFi hubs. Full Story
🖼️ Unique Art, Special Cause: Join the Auction
The Resource Exchange (TRE), an organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is celebrating its 60th anniversary with an art show and sale on this Thurs, Sept 19 at New Altitude Co-Working Space. The event will feature over 100 pieces of art from 70 local artists, many of whom are TRE clients. Attendees will have the opportunity to acquire these artworks through a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit both the artists and TRE’s capital campaign, which is focused on renovating and developing its facilities. The event begins at 5pm with a donor wall reveal.
🌞 Loosen Up: Quick Stretches to Start Your Day
10-minute dynamic stretch routine is an effective way to wake up your body. Focusing on gently increasing range of motion, promoting mobility, and reducing stiffness. Perfect for daily practice to help maintain flexibility and prevent injury by gradually loosening muscles without overexertion. Great for seniors too.
