🚧 Overnight Detours on I-25 Connector
The I-25 South Connector Road between South Tejon and South Nevada will be closed overnight from 9pm tonight to 5am tomorrow, Friday, Sept 20, for a barrier relocation. Northbound South Tejon will also experience closures during this period. Detours through Brookside St and S Nevada and southbound I-25 will follow S Tejon and Brookside to reconnect. Drivers should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes.
🛏️ New Leadership to Tackle Housing Crisis
During his 2024 State of the City address, Mayor Yemi announced Aimee Cox as the new Chief Housing and Homelessness Officer for Colorado Springs. Cox, a Colorado Springs native with 20 years of experience in homelessness and housing solutions, previously served in key roles for the City before moving on to national positions in homelessness advocacy. She will lead efforts to address housing challenges by working closely with faith groups, nonprofits, and local businesses. Her appointment begins on Oct 14, 2024.
🎶 Pipes & Drums to Fill Tejon St—Come Watch
This weekend, Colorado Springs will host the 38th Annual Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial service, recognizing 306 fire fighters from the U.S. and Canada who lost their lives in the line of duty. Their names will be added to the Wall of Honor at Memorial Park.
The event will also feature performances by the IAFF Massed Pipes & Drums Band on Tejon St, which will close to traffic on Friday and Saturday evenings. The public is invited to join this beloved tradition downtown at 8pm both nights.
