🥫 Care and Share’s 50-Year Hunger Mission
Since 1972, Care and Share Food Bank has grown from a grassroots effort into a regional powerhouse supporting 289 food pantries across southern Colorado. Operating out of a 55,000-square-foot warehouse, it distributed 21 million meals in 2023 with the help of 6,000 volunteers. Care and Share’s reach extends through mobile pantries serving rural areas and low-income seniors, school-based pantries giving students essential nutrition, and no-cost grocery stores preserving dignity by offering choice.
The organization prioritizes healthy, fresh food alongside traditional canned goods, addressing the growing demand from families affected by rising costs of living. CEO Nate Springer, a former Army leader, channels his passion into Care and Share’s mission: ensuring no one in the community goes hungry. Full Story

⏳ Time’s Ticking – Warrant Clearance Event Friday
The 4th Judicial District is hosting a "Second Chances Warrant Clearance" event this Fri, Dec 6, from 8am to 2pm at the El Paso County Courthouse. This event provides individuals with outstanding warrants in El Paso and Teller counties the chance to clear their cases with the help of public defenders and district attorneys.
Eligible offenses include municipal, misdemeanor, traffic cases, and some lower-level felonies. However, serious offenses like violent crimes, victim rights violations, and juvenile cases without a parent or guardian present do not qualify. The event is free, and those unsure of their eligibility can contact the Colorado Public Defender’s Office for guidance. Full Story

🎁TRIVIA: How Did Colorado Set the Stage for a Giving Revolution?
Did you know that Colorado Gives Day, launched in 2010, pioneered the concept of a statewide giving day, predating the global Giving Tuesday movement by two years? This innovative initiative was created by Colorado Gives Foundation and FirstBank to boost support for local nonprofits and foster a culture of community giving. Unlike Giving Tuesday, Colorado Gives Day offers a unique $1 million+ Incentive Fund that amplifies every donation, showcasing Colorado's commitment to maximizing charitable impact.
Set for Dec 10, Colorado Gives Day allows donations from Nov 1 through Dec 10, providing an extended period for Coloradans to support their favorite organizations. This approach has raised an impressive $469 million since its inception, demonstrating the power of collective giving and Colorado's generous spirit.
😊 What unique incentive does Colorado Gives Day offer for new monthly donors? |
