🚗 What Happened at Wild Birds Unlimited?
Wild Birds Unlimited experienced an unexpected accident, Wed around 1pm when a car accidentally drove into the front of the store. Thankfully, no one was injured, including the driver, who was safely checked by paramedics at the scene. While the storefront sustained damage, the building was deemed structurally sound, and the team quickly cleaned up with help from local businesses like Automatic Access and City Glass.
Despite temporary repairs, the store remains open for business with a temporary door in place. The team is grateful for the community's understanding and wants customers to know they’re still OPEN as usual and ready to serve, including this weekend they will be hosting local artist, woodcarver Tom Mizik. They invite you to stop by and see his beautiful work!
Store hours: M-Sat 9am-5:30pm & Sun 11am-3pm

🏅 How to See (and Hold!) the Paris Olympic Torch
The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum proudly displays the torch and medals from the 2024 Paris Games, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the event's legacy. The medals, crafted with iron from the Eiffel Tower, are a striking nod to Parisian culture, while the torch—a special gift from the International Olympic Committee President—enhances the museum’s renowned collection.
This exclusive exhibit is featured in the Introduction to the Games gallery, where visitors can see the Paris torch alongside every Olympic torch dating back to 1936. The Bill Daniels Gallery of Inspiration showcases the full set of Paris medals, highlighting their artistry and symbolism.
For an even more immersive experience, premium tours offer the rare opportunity to handle the Paris torch. Plan your visit and discover these historic treasures.
📞 Scammers Know Your Name—Now What?
The Manitou Springs Police Department is alerting the community to a scam involving individuals impersonating law enforcement and county officials. These scammers claim victims have missed jury duty or have warrants, then demand payments or personal details over the phone.
To make their calls seem legitimate, scammers often share personal information about their targets, causing confusion. MSPD emphasizes that they will never ask for money, sensitive details, or photos over the phone. If you receive such a call, hang up immediately and do not provide any information. This is not isolated to Manitou Springs so be aware as we’ve also seen people asking about similar text messages on social media.
To verify any claims, contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at (719)-390-5555 or MSPD at (719)-685-5407. Stay alert and protect your information. Full Story

🐕 Discover the Tribute Tree at Fox Run
Fox Run Regional Park’s Tribute Tree in Black Forest area, offers a heartfelt way to remember pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. Beginning as a tribute to a beloved dog, this community tradition now honors pets of all kinds, with ornaments handmade by their owners.
From Thanksgiving to New Year's, this white pine becomes a poignant display of love, filled with photos, poems, and memories of departed pets. A couple oversees the tree each year, hanging and carefully storing the ornaments. El Paso County Parks supports the tradition, with guidelines ensuring the safety of wildlife by avoiding breakable or food-based decorations.
This weekend, take a hike and visit. According to our local guide Hiking Bob, he says you start at the Rollercoaster Road Trailhead and take the northern trail parallel to Baptist Road. In just a quarter mile, you’ll find the tree, marked by a special sign. A visit is a heartwarming reminder of how pets remain an integral part of our lives, even after they’re gone.
