The Pikes Peak region kicked off 2025 with a boost in home construction, as January saw a 17% increase in new home permits compared to last year. Of the 217 permits issued, the majority were for developments in Colorado Springs, with others spread across El Paso County and Monument. Mortgage rates were expected to dip to around 6% by the end of 2024, but they’ve remained high, hovering in the upper 6% range. Even with the Federal Reserve cutting rates, mortgage rates haven’t budged much, and experts predict any future declines will be gradual.
