π Shape a Child's Future: Local Volunteers Needed

Remember that teacher, mentor, or neighbor who changed your life with their guidance? Junior Achievement of Southern Colorado creates these pivotal moments for our local youth every day. For over 70 years, they have been transforming young lives through practical knowledge that shapes futures.
Picture a middle school student confidently creating their first budget, or an elementary schooler's eyes lighting up as they grasp how a business works. These moments happen daily across Southern Colorado, where JA reaches over 11,900 students annually β at zero cost to families.
Your time as a JA volunteer could be the spark that ignites a child's future. Maybe they'll open their own business one day, manage their money wisely, or lead a company. It starts with someone like you sharing real-world knowledge they won't find in textbooks.
Hereβs how you can help: guide students through "JA In A Day" at local elementary schools, share your career journey, or mentor teens in personal finance at JA Finance Park. Each volunteer makes a lasting impact that ripples through generations.
JA In A Day: Receive a teaching kit with all the materials to teach the grade-appropriate JA program to one class. Teach solo or with colleagues as part of this high-energy event where JA takes over the entire school! These events are approximately 8am-2pm depending on the schoolβs schedule.
Fri, Mar 21 β Otero Elementary School (K-5th)
Fri, Apr 4 β Roosevelt Charter Academy (K-5th)
Mon, May 5 β Wildflower Elementary School (K-5th)
Fri, May 16 β Turman Elementary School (K-5th)
JA Career Speaker Series: Volunteers will be in each classroom for approximately 20-30 min ( 8am-11am) to discuss their career and educational journey. You have the chance to visit several classrooms over the course of one morning. Bring any show-and-tell items that can help illustrate what you do. This is much less structured than JA In A day, and JA can provide handouts and suggested discussion topics if needed.
Fri, May 2 β Centennial Elementary School
JA Finance Park: mid-April through mid-May. Volunteers work with small rotating groups of middle and high school students to discuss personal finance and budgeting.
