Housing Authority has temporarily paused new Section 8 housing assistance

In Colorado Springs, the Housing Authority has temporarily paused new Section 8 housing assistance due to uncertain federal funding. This affects only those who were in the process of receiving a voucherβ€”not current recipients.

With nearly 3,000 households on the waitlist and over 1,700 already receiving help, this move is aimed at keeping the program financially stable until more information comes from HUD. For now, the annual summer application window is still on track to open, but no word yet on future funding levels. *Source

πŸ’° Should You Wait to Buy or Refi? Here’s the Outlook

Mortgage Application

Mortgage rates are slowly easing after a peak earlier this year but are still hovering above 6%, with little movement expected in the short term. The Federal Reserve has decided to keep interest rates unchanged again as it monitors inflation and employment. While two rate cuts are still expected by the end of the year, economic uncertainty and tariff concerns could influence the timeline.

Homeowners who already locked in low rates during 2020–2021 likely won’t benefit from refinancing right now, but those with more recent loans may want to keep an eye on upcoming Fed decisions to see if refinancing makes sense later in the year. *Read Source
