🖼️ Where Art Speaks to Your Soul

🎨 Discover the heartwarming stories behind Gallery113
A painting of a lone angler on the South Fork of the Platte River spoke volumes to a recent visitor at Gallery113. The piece, created by Denise, local artist…evoked a powerful memory for the visitor of her late husband, casting his line in his favorite fishing spot. It wasn’t just the skillful brushstrokes or the vibrant colors; it was the emotional connection that resonated deeply. This power of art that touches the heart is at the core of Gallery113, an artist-owned cooperative in downtown Colorado Springs.
For over a decade, Gallery113 has been a testament to the collaborative spirit of local artists. Founded in 2011, the gallery showcases the work of 18 talented individuals, each playing a vital role in running the business. From former middle school art teacher Denise Duker, now a vibrant painter, to Dana Stoner, a wildlife photographer capturing the breathtaking beauty of the region, these artists pour their hearts into their creations. Their unique gallery model not only allows them to share their passion but also ensures their art remains accessible to all.
Step inside Gallery113, and you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting space filled with a diverse collection of paintings, pottery, jewelry, wood carvings, and more. The air buzzes with creative energy, especially during the First Friday Art Walks Downtown, where you can meet the artists, sip wine, enjoy chocolates, and learn the stories behind their work. Even amidst the ongoing construction on Tejon, the artists are committed to providing a welcoming experience, offering curbside pickup and flexible hours.
Art has a unique way of speaking to the soul, and at Gallery113, the conversations are plentiful. One visitor, moved by one of Dana’s photograph titled "Come Walk With Me," shared a touching story of how the image of an Aspen filled trail resonated with a special moment shared with his daughter. He left with a large canvas print, a piece of art that now holds a cherished memory. It’s moments like these, combined with the gallery’s recent "Best of the Springs" award, that solidify its place as a beloved community space.
Come experience the magic of Gallery113 for yourself. Connect with the artists, hear their stories, and discover art that speaks to YOUR soul.

🚧 What’s Closing on Academy Today?

Southbound lanes on S Academy will be temporarily closed tonight, May 28, from 7pm to 4:30am as crews install overhead signs for the widening project. Drivers will need to follow posted detours through Milton Proby Parkway, Hancock Expressway, Main Street, US 85/87, and I-25.
If weather delays the work, the closure will shift to tomorrow night instead. Plan extra travel time and consider alternate routes if you're heading through that area.
✈️ Thunderbirds Practice Today!

The US Air Force Thunderbirds have landed in Colorado Springs for the Academy's graduation celebration this Thursday. They’ll be practicing their iconic aerial stunts TODAY between 11am–noon and again from 2–4pm, weather permitting.
The full flyover happens Thurs during the graduation’s famous hat toss ceremony, usually around 11:15am. Keep your eyes on the skies if you're nearby today and tomorrow—you just might catch a breathtaking flyover. Full Story

😠 Panorama Park Mural Damaged

Panorama Park, a symbol of community pride on the city’s southeast side, was vandalized over Memorial Day weekend. The damage included trees, restrooms, and a significant section of the cherished tile mural made by residents—more than 7,000 pieces strong.
The city is urging anyone with information to contact police, reminding us that this shared space belongs to all of us, and it’s going to take all of us to keep it safe, vibrant, and respected. Full Story
