💔 Personal Update from Sandy
Late last night, I received the heartbreaking news that my mom has passed. I booked a last-minute flight to NY for today, but sadly, I didn’t make it in time to say my goodbyes. I’ll be spending the day traveling and then helping my dad through this difficult transition in the next few weeks. 😥
I'll do my best to keep the newsletter coming on schedule, but if you notice a day or two missed, you’ll know why. Thank you for your kindness, patience, and continued support as I pour my heart and soul into each issue for the benefit of our community as a whole. 💕🤗

🚗 Platte & Nevada Roundabout? Nope!

The City of Colorado Springs studied the idea of building a roundabout at the busy intersection of Platte and Nevada but ultimately decided not to move forward. While technically possible, it would likely cause major traffic backups during peak hours and could cost up to $6 million to construct. Factors like future traffic growth, nearby school plans, and space limitations make the project unworkable for now.

Heads up…the US Air Force Academy’s graduation is today, May 29, starting at 9am at Falcon Stadium, with a Thunderbird flyover scheduled after the ceremony around 11:15 am. Expect early morning traffic and several road closures around the Academy and I-25.
Expect the following roads to be closed from 9am to 1pm:
Stadium Blvd from Pine Dr to North Gate Blvd
Community Center Dr from E Douglass Dr to Stadium Blvd
Academy Dr from Lot 6 to Stadium Blvd
Parade Loop from SUAFA Cemetery to Stadium Blvd
Santa Fe Trail from Tri-intersection Bridge to Parade Loop
In case of severe weather, the event may be moved indoors to the Cadet Field House. Full Story
Also click on the calendar below for places to set up and watch. Please do not stop on the roadside as you will be ticketed. In addition, the Scheels parking lot is also available for viewing.

🚫 No Fines for Ford Amphitheater—But Should There Be?

The Ford Amphitheater’s first concerts of the season drew dozens of noise complaints from nearby neighborhoods, but the City of Colorado Springs says none of the shows crossed the threshold for a fine. New monitoring stations, sound walls, and a stricter noise permit were added this year, but officials say isolated sound spikes were likely caused by unrelated noise, like vehicles.
A local group opposing the amphitheater argues the real impact is being underestimated and wants more real-time data shared and stricter action taken. The debate between entertainment and neighborhood peace is far from over. Full Story
