đź’” Quick Personal Update from Sandy

As I finish this morning’s edition, I have not slept yet and the sun is rising on what I know will be a tough two days. Today is the viewing for my mother, and tomorrow is her funeral mass before cremation. I spent quiet time alone creating the picture boards, adding a special message at the top to tell her story in order.

My dad and I had a tender moment last night as we reviewed the digital tribute—grief hitting us both in different ways. I’ll be in New York for 10 more days, doing my best to support him in his transition to his next chapter.

If you don’t see tomorrow’s Colorado Springs Town Tidings, it just means the day was just too long and emotionally draining. If it does arrive, you’ll know I pushed through. Either way, THANK YOU for being a part of our amazing COS TT community and your support, as always. đź’•đź¤—

 

🚧 Why the Dublin Closure’s Delayed Again

Dublin Closure’s Delayed Again

Plans to fully close Dublin Blvd between Fieler Dr and Mustang Rim Dr have been pushed back for at least two weeks due to delays with site permitting. There's no new start date yet, but the city will share updates as soon as they’re available.

In the meantime, both the Dublin/Peterson intersection and the Sand Creek Trail remain open. Travelers can stay informed by signing up for text alerts or checking the city’s project page.

Lightning Strikes Homes

Yesterday, lightning struck several homes and apartment buildings across Colorado Springs, including one that suffered a large hole in the roof. Fortunately, none of the strikes sparked a fire, but CSFD crews were quick to respond and check for safety.

At one home, firefighters even stayed to help residents protect th

eir roof from rain. It’s a timely reminder to always call 911 if you think lightning may have hit your home—just in case danger is lurking behind the walls.

Here’s your dose of cuteness for your Monday—Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is celebrating the birth of 14 baby skunks! Two proud skunk moms, Isabel and Padfoot, are each caring for seven kits, born two weeks apart.

The tiny newcomers are busy nursing, napping, and getting to know each other, and the best way to catch a glimpse is during skunk training demos at The Loft. When they’re older, they’ll head to other AZA zoos to help teach visitors how special skunks really are.
