📣 Your Input Needed by June 17

Here’s your chance to help guide how our city supports affordable housing and homelessness efforts. Colorado Springs is inviting public comment on the draft 2024 City's Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER), which reviews how federal HUD funding was used throughout the year. The draft is available online and at three City locations through June 17. If you have thoughts to share, you can submit them by email, mail, or phone—and all input will be considered before finalizing the report.

💬 Tragedy, Unity, and Call for Action From El Paso County

Following the recent tragic act of violence at Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall, the El Paso County Commissioners shared a message of support for the Jewish community and those impacted. Along with their condemnation of antisemitism, they also raised concerns about state laws they believe limit local law enforcement’s ability to collaborate with federal immigration officials. The Board emphasized their continued support for stronger enforcement measures and public safety priorities.
🏙️ Annexation Battle You’ll Help Decide

As Colorado Springs voters consider the Karman Line Annexation, neighboring counties are speaking up. Seven southeastern Colorado agencies have passed resolutions against the plan, citing water concerns tied to expanding city limits by 1,900 acres. Rural leaders stress the importance of protecting agricultural resources, while annexation supporters argue water management—not water supply—is the issue.
The decision now rests with you, the local voters, who will weigh in during the special election set for June 17. Full Story

⚰ TRIVIA: Secret History That Lies "Beneath" The Springs

Did you know that Colorado Springs’ earliest pioneers needed a special place to honor their loved ones almost as soon as the city was founded in 1871? The city’s oldest cemetery was established in 1872 and originally called Mount Washington or Mountain Home Cemetery, reflecting the area’s scenic surroundings.
Name the oldest continuously operating cemetery in Colorado Springs…
It was renamed in 1876 to evoke a sense of peace and enduring remembrance. Over the decades, has quietly become the resting place for some of the most fascinating figures from the city’s past—people whose stories helped shape the community we know today. You can even visit this historic site at 1005 Hancock Expressway.
