🧒 Deepfake Law Now in Effect

A new Colorado law is taking aim at the rising threat of AI-generated deepfake images, especially those that target children. The law makes it a crime to create, share, or threaten to share fake sexual content featuring someone’s likeness without their consent.

While most offenses are misdemeanors, serious cases may bring felony charges. Colorado Springs police and local child advocates say the law is a much-needed step in protecting kids and adults alike from emotional harm and online exploitation. Colorado joins 37 other states with similar protections, and local leaders say there's still more to be done. Full Story

🌮 COS Favorite Fails Health Inspection—See Who

Hacienda Colorado at University Village recently failed a health inspection due to several food safety concerns, including improper food temperatures and cleaning issues. A follow-up showed improvement, but not full resolution. Several other eateries, like Popeye’s and Broken Bones BBQ, also received low scores.

On the flip side, restaurants like Flying W Ranch and Paris Crepe were recognized for high marks, and Sliced Bagels & More in Fountain stood out with a perfect score and its unique steamed bagel sandwiches, celebrating its one-year anniversary with pride.

🥾 Hike Aiken Canyon’s Calm Trails

Recommended hike by our friend Heath, of the Colorado Fan Club. Aiken Canyon Preserve is a quiet, beautiful escape just south of Colorado Springs, featuring about 5 miles of beginner-friendly trails through foothills, grasses, and canyons.

It’s open year-round from dawn to dusk, with no dogs allowed to protect its fragile habitat. You’ll find plenty of wildlife, seasonal blooms, and even the remains of an old homestead—making it a perfect pick for a relaxing solo hike or a mindful morning in nature.
