🚗 Cars or Camps? Neighbors Worried

A stretch of Mark Dabling is becoming a regular spot for parked cars and RVs used by individuals experiencing homelessness, sparking concerns from both drivers and cyclists. CSPD’s Homeless Outreach Team has issued warnings and towed vehicles, but the area continues to see returning encampments.
While the department offers connections to resources, enforcement alone hasn’t resolved the issue—and many locals are now calling for more long-term, compassionate solutions to help those living on the margins. Is there really a solution though? Full Story

🗳️ Did You Vote Yet? Deadline Is Tonight!

Colorado Springs voters have until 7pm tonight to return their ballots for the Karman Line annexation special election, which will determine whether nearly 1,900 acres of land east of the city becomes part of city limits.
Ballots must be dropped off at one of 27 locations or the City Clerk’s Office—it’s too late to mail them. Voters who need a replacement or encounter sealed return envelopes can still get help at the Clerk’s Office, as long as ballots are signed and submitted on time. The city expects higher turnout than the April election, and results will be released shortly after polls close. Full Story

👩⚕️ TRIVIA: What Heartbreak Led to Colorado Springs’ First Woman Doctor?

Did you know Colorado Springs’ first woman doctor didn’t earn her medical degree until she was in her fifties—and only after a heartbreaking loss?
Dr. Julia Loomis arrived in Colorado Springs in the late 1870s, determined to make a difference in a city known for its health seekers. Born the youngest of ten daughters, Julia faced unimaginable grief when her only daughter, Gertrude, died at age 21. This tragedy became the turning point that inspired Julia to pursue medicine, a field almost entirely dominated by men.
Which Colorado Springs cemetery holds Dr. Julia Loomis’s final resting place—a site honoring her trailblazing legacy?
Graduating from the Cleveland Woman’s Homeopathic College at 54, she quickly became a trusted physician in our Colorado Springs community, caring for families and newcomers alike. Her decade of service left a lasting mark, paving the way for generations of women in medicine.
