👶 A Welcoming Start: Supporting Families in Colorado Springs
🤗 Discover the compassionate care that helps families embrace their new beginnings with joy. 💖
There's nothing quite like holding your breath as new life enters the world – that moment when time stands still and everything changes forever. Whether it's your own child, grandchild, or a dear friend's baby, bringing new life into this world is pure magic.
For Jolene Hamann, this magic became her calling. During her military service, compassionate midwives transformed her own birthing experience, planting a seed that would eventually bloom into Beginnings Birth Center in 2018. She recognized that families deserved more than sterile hospital rooms and rushed procedures – they deserved to feel empowered, heard, and cherished during life's most precious moments.
Step into Beginnings and you'll find something remarkable: spacious, spa-like suites where mothers can move freely, soak in custom waterbirth tubs (the only ones in Southern Colorado), and labor surrounded by those they love most. No restrictions on who can witness this miracle. No rushing. Just gentle, continuous support from certified nurse-midwives who treat each birth as the sacred event it truly is.
Lauren Silk, who leads marketing and outreach for the center, knows this firsthand – her youngest child was born at Beginnings. She personally creates a wonderful bridge, bringing both her professional expertise and personal experience to families considering this path. Her journey from doula to team member reflects the center's commitment to supporting families in every way possible.

The love doesn't end at delivery. Beginnings wraps families in care for weeks afterward – ensuring successful breastfeeding, healthy bonding, and confident transitions into parenthood. They even provide well-woman care, supporting mothers through every stage of life.
Your family deserves this kind of care. If someone you love is expecting, or if you're seeking compassionate women's health services, don't wait.
Call Beginnings Birth Center today at (719) 367-9405 or visit beginningsbirthcenter.com. Located at 9475 Briar Village Point, Suite 100, between Memorial Hospital North and the Promenade Shops. Because every birth story should be beautiful.

🥞 Street Breakfast Today At Dawn!

The Colorado Springs Western Street Breakfast takes over downtown this morning with a hot $5 breakfast, western entertainment, and nearly 90 years of history behind it. Hosted by the Pikes Peak Range Riders, this annual tradition raises money for military families and includes live performances, kids’ activities, and the start of the Riders' backcountry journey leading up to the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. It’s a true celebration of local heritage, and attendees are also encouraged to donate western memorabilia to help preserve this long-running tradition.
🛒 Springs Safeway Workers Vote to Strike

Safeway employees at 12 stores in Colorado Springs have voted to authorize a strike, with an overwhelming 99% in favor. They join grocery workers in other cities like Pueblo and Denver who are seeking better pay, benefits, and staffing. Safeway has said its stores remain open and that negotiations are ongoing, but customers may want to stay informed in case local operations are affected. Full Story
🚧 I-25 Lanes Close Overnight
Drivers using northbound I-25 between Fillmore and Garden of the Gods should prepare for overnight lane closures tonight, June 18. The left lane closes at 7pm, with traffic down to a single lane from 10pm to 5am, and full reopening by 6 am Thursday.
These closures are part of a traffic shift needed to prep for demolition of the Ellston Street Bridge. Additionally, Sinton Trail under I-25 will be closed June 17–24 for safety during the bridge work. Weather could alter the schedule.
