🚧 What’s Shutting Down Tejon This Week

Starting today, Tejon will see a second round of closures as Colorado Springs Utilities relocates a gas line to make room for new stormwater infrastructure.
Southbound Tejon (including the center lane) between Kiowa and Pikes Peak will be closed through July 2. Eastbound Pikes Peak Ave will also be closed to through traffic between Cascade and Tejon, though access to local businesses and parking lots will remain. Street parking in the area will be limited, but two-hour garage parking vouchers are being offered to help ease the inconvenience. Heavy equipment will be present, so give yourself extra time if heading downtown.
This is all part of the larger revitalization plan to improve pedestrian access and outdoor spaces along Tejon.

🌩️ 5 Must-Know Tips for Hail Season

Hail season is in full swing across Colorado, and it’s no joke—our state consistently ranks as one of the worst for hail damage in the country. From now through September, it’s essential to take steps to protect your home, car, and loved ones.
That means parking under cover when possible, using weatherproof materials at home, checking your insurance, and staying alert to forecasts. Even smaller hailstones can do real damage, so don’t wait until it’s too late. If a storm does hit, be sure to document any damage right away for your insurance. We can’t stop the hail, but we can be ready for it. Full Story

đź’° Funding Changes Ahead for Events

After some well-known local events were denied Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) funding last year such as the Western Street Breakfast and the Festival of Lights. Therefore, the Colorado Springs’ City Auditor has stepped in to help make the process more transparent and consistent. A recent audit showed that many past recipients failed to meet reporting requirements or submit final reports.
Going forward, improvements include clearer contracts, consistent expectations, and a new administrator role to guide applicants and ensure accountability. Starting with the 2026 cycle, all applicants must fall into one of four tourism impact pillars, such as arts, sports, tourism or outdoor recreation. With these changes, the City hopes LART funding will have a stronger, measurable impact—and support the events that truly bring our city to life. Full Story
