🏆 El Paso County Wins Big!

Our very own, El Paso County has been honored with three 2025 National Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties, recognizing standout programs in economic outreach, public communication, and volunteer engagement.
The Economic Development team’s outreach initiative significantly expanded program access, while the Communications department launched a media training network to improve public trust. Meanwhile, the Parks department created a Restoration Crew that gave volunteers hands-on roles in fire mitigation and trail restoration at Bear Creek.
These awards reflect a growing commitment to service, connection, and meaningful impact across our region.

⚠️ S Circle Chaos Worries Locals

Reckless driving near South Circle and Monterey has become a serious concern for nearby residents and businesses, as weekend car meetups frequently escalate into illegal stunts. Despite past crashes and ongoing safety worries, gatherings continue.
Law enforcement recently stepped up enforcement with arrests and dozens of tickets, but limited resources make it tough to respond to every incident. Police are asking the public to report illegal activity and are using new laws to hold offenders accountable and reclaim safety in the area. Full Story

⛳ 25,000 Visitors a Day - How It Effects You

With the U.S. Senior Open set to bring tens of thousands of spectators to The Broadmoor from June 25 (practice Day) and tournament is 26–29, nearby residents and commuters should expect significant traffic disruptions this week. Roads in the Broadmoor district—including El Pomar, Berthe Circle, and others—will close throughout the week. Off-site parking and shuttles will be the norm, especially for attendees and volunteers.
While the event itself includes exciting golf action, fan experiences, and Military Appreciation Day, locals may want to plan alternate routes and expect a very busy week ahead. Full Details

📚 TRIVIA: Which Gift Sparked Colorado City’s First Library, Now 151 Yrs Old?

Did you know the Old Colorado City Library owes its beginnings to a group of determined women and a generous gift from a neighbor? In 1896, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union opened the Woods Free Library, named for Mrs. Lydia Woods of Manitou Springs, who donated $1,000 so the town could buy its first real collection of books.
Before moving into its iconic Carnegie building, where did the Woods Free Library call home in 1904?
The dream grew, and by 1904, thanks to a $10,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie and land purchased from a local church, a beautiful new brick library opened its doors on West Pikes Peak Ave. Over the years, the library has weathered annexation, renovations, and even a sale for just $1, but its heart has always been the same: a place where neighbors gather to learn, dream, and connect.
